WORLDSKILLS AUSTRALIA

NORTHERN TERRITORY REGIONAL COMPETITIONS

WorldSkills Australia (WSA)

WorldSkills Australia offer young Australians the access to vocational education and training that measures up on an international stage.

WSA know that skills and trades are critical for:

  • Building Thriving Economies
  • Productive Communities
  • Confident Young Members of Society
  • Skills and Trades Shape the World Around Us.

The main way that WSA support skills excellence in Australia is through our skills competition which have been running for over 40 years now.

ISACNT & WSA

ISACNT are lead project managers for WSA 2024.

ISACNT engage with RTO’s, industry and apprentices and trainees to offer WSA information and what is happening in 2024 in this space.

Different competitions in all different disciplines are being held in 2024, in the NT.

ISACNT assist in coordinating the competitions. Nominated winners from these competitions have the chance to compete on a National stage in June 2025!

The competitions consist of guidelines and instructions for each competitor to complete in a day. There is a chief judge and other judges, overseeing these competitions.

Last year, the Northern Territory had 5 young representatives at the National Competitions which had over 200 young competitors from all states and territories in the Nation. From the 5 that represented the NT, 3 achieved a medal & recognition! Such a feat, especially given the multitude of competitors from various states.

In 2024 we want to wave that Northern Territory flag bigger and better at the Nationals, but first we need to promote about all of the amazing competitions that are available in different locations and get everyone involved!

Regional Competition

Regional Competition Eligibility

  • Undertaken/completed a relevant qualification at an Australian RTO/TAFE or University
  • There are no age criteria to enter the Regionals, however, to be eligible to proceed to the 2025 National Championships, the National Age Ruling will apply.

Testimonials

"As a WorldSkills sponsor in 2023, Charles Darwin University has since received much interest for future competitions from students and teachers, which demonstrates to me that there is a thirst to strive for skills excellence and be recognised across Northern Territory, and possibly on the National stage. WorldSkills captures what we endeavour to instil within our educational journeys at Charles Darwin University; a positive experience, breaking down barriers, personal achievement and showcasing talent. We certainly hope that there will be more NT representatives at the next WorldSkills and there is no doubt that sponsorship helps achieve that."

Mike Hamilton, Pro Vice-Chancellor & Chief Executive TAFE Charles Darwin University

"It was a good chance to test my skills against the rest of Australia, I feel more confident in my skills and abilities after being put through my paces against the best from every other state. Though in the Territory we don’t use timber as much as they use it down south, it was still great to see what I could do over the three days."

Sasha - WorldSkills Australia Participant - Competing in Carpentry

"When young Australians compete at WorldSkills – whether it’s at a regional, national or international competition – they’re fostering their communication, teamwork, organisation and leadership skills. They’re empowering themselves with the most elite skillset they possibly can, and preparing for future success, whatever careers path they eventually travel." - WorldSkills Australia
