White Card – National Review

The Construction Plumbing and Services Industry Reference Committee is reviewing and updating specific components of unit CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, also known as the ‘White Card’ in the Northern Territory.

The unit of competency provides knowledge of essential skills required for those entering into work-related sectors such as (but not limited to), construction, plumbing and electrical services.

Skills achieved upon completion of the unit include:

  • knowledge of mandatory work health and safety legislative requirements
  • hazard identification and response
  • understanding necessary risk control measures
  • selecting suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) for specific tasks.

Content of the training will not be reviewed or updated but will look to strengthen how the training is assessed (inclusion of verifying learner identify), provide structure on how to support student learning needs and update the performance and knowledge evidence criteria.

Artibus Innovation is hosting a final validation webinar on Tuesday 13 April 2021, to gain industry perspectives on the proposed changes and collect intelligence to better strengthen the skills outlined in the unit – please click here to participate.

The proposed changes are available for comment until Monday 19 April 2021 and are available HERE through a short validation survey.

Alternatively, if you wish to provide your feedback directly to ISACNT, please contact Yvonne Webb on 08 7913 7507 to arrange a meeting.
