NCVER Research – Employer Understanding of VET

The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) is conducting a research activity on how to improve employers’ understanding and use of the VET system for the purpose of workforce development.

ISACNT is keen to ensure the perspectives of Territorian employers are included in the research.

Should you wish to participate, the requirement will be the completion of a brief on-line survey (10minutes) and follow-up interview (20 minutes) in the first quarter of 2021.

NCVER wish to gain understanding about the barriers and enablers towards:

  • Employee skills development needs
  • Expectations around navigating training information
  • Reasons for selecting particular training programs and training providers
  • Use and usefulness of nationally recognised VET courses

The project aims to examine barriers in the current VET environment that influence employers to choose other training over nationally recognised training.

Findings of this research will provide strategies on how the VET system can better meet the needs of employers in their efforts to upskill or reskill their existing employers.
(Note: this is not exploring trainee or apprentice training.)

Further information on this project is available on the NCVER website at this link.
