Community Safety Services

The Northern Territory Community Night Patrollers have provided essential services to people of all ages, day and night, across Aboriginal communities for over 30 years.

To undertake this work, Patrollers draw on cultural authority, knowledge and identity.

‘it has been recognised that endorsement by community leaders is important to “authorise” the work of patrols’ (Tangentyere Community Patrollers & Elek 2007:25)i.

In addition to drawing on cultural authority, a Certificate III in Community Safety Services has been developed to support and build on current and future skills needed in performing this critical role.

To get involved in validating skills required for the workforce, you can attend a SkillsIQ webinar:

Thursday  22 April 2021 11:30pm to 2:00pm
Tuesday   27 April 2021   1:30pm to 4:00pm

ISACNT will also be holding face to face meetings from 12 April – 30 April 2021.

Please contact Debbie Knight on 08 7913 7517 to provide your perspectives on the proposed training standards or to organise your own meeting.
