The Certificate III in Care Support has been released

Recent national consultation identified that the current Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) was not adequately meeting the skills needs of the workforce in the aged care sector, ultimately jeopardising the quality of care.

In response to the consultations, the Aged Services Industry Reference Committee (IRC) was formed and tasked with developing a stand-alone qualification for entry-level workers in the aged care sector.

Under the direction of the IRC, SkillsIQ looked to re-package current units of competency from the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) into a new Certificate III qualification. Mixed views were received.

The IRC recommends that draft 2 be modeled on the current Certificate III in Individual Support and that the revised qualification also be re-titled.
