The call for new ideas toward strengthening the NT Economy

The devastating WWII Bombing of Darwin left us in ruin. The infamous Cyclone Tracy flattened us. But these events did not stop us from rising from the rubble and ashes.

We are now combating the reality of COVID-19 and even though the Northern Territory has effectively managed the crisis with no reported cases of communal spread and been hailed as the safest place to be in the nation, we are in pain as local business activity is falling and jobs decline.

How can we create 35,000 new jobs and build a $40 billion Territory economy by 2030?

What jobs can we bring back onshore? What workforce investment can we bring to the NT? What industry development could be pivotal for the Territory to bounce back?

The Territory Economic Reconstruction Commission is tasked with providing the Chief Minister with independent recommendations on what is needed to rebound the Territory economy off the back of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The commission is seeking your ideas, vision, and expertise on how to best position the Territory to rebound strongly from the current crisis. Your ideas will form a critical contribution to informing the commission’s recommendations to the Territory Government
