Workforce Planning Officer

ISACNT is seeking a passionate Workforce Planning Officer to join our team based in Parap NT. Reporting to the Research and Project Team Leader, you will gather data and conduct analysis and research on workforce planning projects for industry and various sectors of the Northern Territory workforce.

Primary Duties

  • Gather, analyse and report on industry data, trends and other information and research related to current and future workforce needs, skill development initiatives and strategies.
  • Establish project management systems and research and reporting methodologies to align with multiple stakeholder needs, including Government and industry.
  • Identify priorities and undertake research on the current and future needs of specific workforce sectors and forecast industry workforce and training needs.
  • Conduct skills audits and identify gaps.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders and training providers.
  • Establish and maintain networks with relevant workforce planners and data set managers across government and industry.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve shared or specific outcomes.
  • Manage or participate in evaluation projects to ensure results are being achieved.
  • Prepare reports and papers on research, data, evidence and findings

Skills and experience

To be successful in the role you will possess:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary practices in workforce planning and project management.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of and experience with contemporary research and data management methods.
  • Ability to examine broad workforce issues and propose research projects to provide an evidence base to support action on those issues.
  • Proven ability to operate flexibly within a team setting; taking a lead, or working as a team member.
  • Capacity to navigate towards a shared goal against sometimes competing interests.
  • Well-developed written, interpersonal, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills and demonstrated capacity to interact positively and effectively with people of different cultures.
  • Proven ability to deliver against agreed objectives.


  • Knowledge of the NT and national goals and current developments in VET.
  • Tertiary Qualification in an associated discipline.
